PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder resin for toner and to provide toner showing excellent fixing property, smear property, offset resistance, development durability and blocking resistance and having a structure and configuration with less burden on the environment. SOLUTION: The toner uses a binder resin for toner, wherein the resin contains polyester resin having a specified content of a structural unit derived from polyvalent amine, a specified acid value and a specified THF insoluble component content. As the resin has high polarity even in a low acid value, it shows high glass transition temperature even when the resin is prepared in low molecular weight, and it shows excellent low temperature fixing property. Even when the above resin us used in a combination with a charge controlling agent such as a metal salicylic acid complex having less burden on the environment, the agent does not react with the resin and a favorable toner can be obtained.
