PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine sharing a read transport path and a recording transport path in common, whereby faxing is quickly carried out when a user considers faxing during facsimile reception. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine includes: a read means for reading an original; a communication means for transmitting / receiving image data; a first storage means for storing the received image data into a memory; a recording means for reading the image data stored in the memory and recording the data; a transmission instruction means for instructing transmission of the original; a medium transport mechanism acting like a common transport mechanism for the original and recording paper; and a control means for performing control so that, when the transmission instruction means instructs transmission of the original while the communication means receives the image data and the first storage means stores the received image data, the read means preferentially carries out reading of a transmission original on the basis of the instruction of the transmission instruction means over the recording operation of the received image data by the recording means.
