<p>1,007,657. Collapsible containers; closures for bags. R. KUSTER. July 4, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No. 26477/63. Headings B8D and B8K. A flexible container, e.g. of synthetic plastics material, has a closure member, Fig. 1, permanently secured to an end or corner so that leaf springs 5, joined at their ends, are clamped on either side of the containing material. After the corner of the container is cut off the container walls are pressed to force out the contents through a slit 3 against the action of the springs 5, plate members 6, 6<SP>1</SP> being squeezed together at the same time to open the slit 3. The closure member may simply comprise leaf springs 15 joined at their ends and adhered to strengthened areas 13 of the container, Fig. 6. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the closure is formed either of metal or plastics, e.g. polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene or butadiene; a leaf spring 27 is either moulded integrally or secured mechanically to the closure member. The two side members of the closure may be urged together by a wire spring, Fig. 13. The closure may be applied before the container is filled, Figs. 27-28 (not shown), a protruding neck of the container being heatsealed subsequently.</p> |
