The process involves burning wastes (2) in a hermetic electric arc furnace (10) in a temperature range comprised between 2000 and 2500 degrees centigrade. Gases produced by the combustion are collected and the combustion gases are purified. A unit (30) is provided for evacuating the combustion gases towards a purification unit (40). A unit (50) is provided for adjusting gas pressure inside the furnace. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a waste treatment process.
