<p>Filter blockage detector comprises a high-tension (HT) source of electricity (33) emitting an electrical discharge to which the filter is subjected, and measuring the current after the filter that is related to the degree of blockage by particles carried in the air passing through it, using a tension (34) or current detector. The resulting measurement is processed to give a filter blockage signal that is used to warn the vehicle driver and/or regenerate the filter by applying a HT voltage to it. Preferred Features: The system can have a controlled valve after the filter that reverses the flow of air during regeneration, and can incorporate a gas filter mounted in series or parallel with the particle filter to allow a predetermined quantity of outside air to pass through it during normal functioning.</p> |
