PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering gear for a vehicle capable of obtaining a desirable thrust load ability without giving an influence to outline shape of a housing and capable of stably performing steering with transmission form a steering motor by a little bit improving a holding part for holding a thrust bearing for supporting a rotary cylinder. SOLUTION: In this steering gear for a vehicle, a housing 10 structuring a ball screw mechanism 5 between a rack shaft 1, which moves in the axial direction for steering, to support a ball and a nut 51 to be rotated by transmission from a steering motor 3 on the same shaft with the rack shaft 1 is divided into a first and a second housings 17 and 18 fitted to each other by counter lock outside a holding ring 81 for a thrust bearing 8 for thrust-supporting the rotary cylinder. In order to apply fastening force to the thrust bearing 8, which is fitted in the holding ring 81 for support, from one side, a clearance is set in a part of a counter lock fitting part positioned outside a fixed nut 82 to be screwed to the holding ring 81.
