<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ruthenium complex having a new structure which has sensitivity to light in the region of low wavelengths and can efficiently take out electricity, and a high performance dye sensitization semiconductor oxide electrode and a dye sensitization solar cell which use this ruthenium complex. <P>SOLUTION: The metal complex has formula (1): ML<SP>1</SP>L<SP>2</SP>[wherein M is selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, osmium, iron, rhenium and technetium; L<SP>1</SP>is a tridentate polypyridine ligand represented by formula (2) (wherein at least one of A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP>, and A<SP>3</SP>is a bonding group; and the other are alkyl groups or hydrogens) and L<SP>2</SP>is a ligand of formula (3) selected from the group consisting of formulae IIa, IIb, IIc, and IId (wherein R<SP>2</SP>is any one of an alkyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, an aminoalkyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a cyano group, and hydrogen)]. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
