PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplification type solid-state imaging apparatus whereby an image with less noise and high image quality can be obtained and a pixel size can be reduced by considerably reducing the number of transistors per pixel and to provide a driving method thereof. SOLUTION: The amplification type solid-state imaging apparatus is provided with photoelectric conversion sections 10 each comprising a photo diode 1 and a transfer transistor 2; and switched capacitor amplifier sections 20 each provided to k-sets of the photoelectric conversion sections 10. Each switched capacitor amplifier section 20 comprises: an inverting amplifier 9 comprising transistors 3, 4; a reset transistor 6 and a capacitor 7 inserted between the input and the output of the inverting amplifier 9; and a selection transistor 5 inserted between the output side of the inverting amplifier 9 and a vertical signal line 11. The input side of the inverting amplifier 9 of the switched capacitor amplifier section 9 acts as a signal electric charge storage section 8 in common to the k-sets of the photoelectric conversion sections 10. The output side of the inverting amplifier 9 of the switched capacitor amplifier section 20 is connected to the vertical signal line 11 via the selection transistor 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
