This invention discloses a method of the subscribe terminal selecting the packet data gateway in the Wireless Local Network, the PDG sends back the message including the failure cause value to the subscriber terminal that sends a request when the subscriber terminal fails to access, the subscriber terminal performs differently according to the detailed failure cause in the message. For example, the subscriber terminal may request again the DNS to resolve the IP address in the ascription network for the service to be applied, or, the subscriber terminal may subscriber the service and re-perform the selected PDG operation, otherwise, the subscriber terminal may re-select a resolved PDA, and send a connect request to the PDG. The usage of this invention reduces the process of the WLAN subscriber terminal re-directing the DNS to the ascription network to selecting the PDG thereby avoid the unnecessary signaling message, economize the network resource.
