<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption required for communication in a vehicle mounted communication device communicable with a communication device in a vehicle and on the outside of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle mounted communication device makes a decision whether a communication partner specified by a user (step 210) is in a vehicle or on the outside of the vehicle (step 220). If the communication partner is a communication device in its own vehicle, e.g. a portable telephone, transmission power is set at the maximum power of CLASS2 of Bluetooth (step 230).
