<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scalable video coding algorithm. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided a video coding method in which temporal filtering is performed in the same order as a decoding order so that a time duplicating is eliminated, a conversion coefficient is acquired from a frame from which the temporal duplicating is eliminated and the coefficient is quantized to generate a bitstream; a video encoder comprising a temporal converting unit for executing the above process, a spatial converting unit, a quantizing unit, and a bit stream generating unit; a video decoding method for basically performing decoding in a reverse order from the video coding; and a video decoder for interpreting an inputted bit stream, extracting information required for video decoding, and decoding the information. According to this method, an existing decoder decodes the bitstream generated by this method and can generate the video stream while enabling maintaining temporal scalability on an encoding side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
