PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a luminescent material having a long service life in a room temperature region (below 200°C). SOLUTION: The production of the luminescent material is carried out by the followings: after adding a boron ion and a halogen ion to an alcohol solution of an organosilicon compound having a hydroxy group and a methoxy group, in this order, the solution is subjected to hydrolysis and dehydration-condensation at room temperature, preparing a solution of the reaction product; and fine particles of the luminescent material are dispersed in an alcohol under stirring, then the reaction product is dropped to the alcohol, forming a glass film onto the luminescent material fine particle surfaces, followed by spray-drying the fine particles at≤200°C after separating them. The luminescent material produced by the same method, retains luminosity for a long period by blocking it from moisture and dusts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
