<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double row self-aligning roller bearing which can inhibit the sliding of a roller and are applied to an application in which either row receives thrust load, e.g., in a main shaft supporting device of a wind turbine generator. <P>SOLUTION: The present double row self-aligning roller bearing is configured so that rollers 4, 5 are interposed between inner wheels 2 and outer wheels 3 in double row, that the track planes 3a of the rollers 4, 5 are formed into a spherical shape and that the outer diameter faces of the rollers 4, 5 are formed along the track planes 3a of the outer wheel 3. In this configuration, a preload imparting means 21 is provided to apply preload to the bearings. For example, the outer wheels 3 are divided into two divided outer wheels 3A, 3B aligned in the axial direction, and a gap d between the two divided outer wheels 3A, 3B is provided to load the preload between these divided outer wheels 3A, 3B.
