PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing apparatus which permits to resume reproduction by an easy operation from a point where the reproduction is interrupted in reproducing the data from a plurality of apparatus. SOLUTION: The data reproducing apparatus 300 includes: a reproducing section 354 which reproduces the data recorded in a first recording medium 310; a reproduction information updating section 350 which generates reproduction management information including reproduction interruption position information when the reproduction of the data by the reproducing section 354 is interrupted, and records the information in the first recording medium 310 by making information correspondent to the data separately from the data; and the reproducing section 354 and an encryption section 362 for copying the data recorded to the first recording medium 310 to an attachable and detachable second recording medium 314 in response to a copying instruction signal. The reproduction information updating section 350 copies the reproduction management information to the second recording medium 314 if the reproduction management information corresponding to the data to be copied to the second recording medium 314 exists in the first recording medium 310.
