The invention relates to an improved heat exchanger comprising at least two tubes (4, 8) having essentially parallel axes, through which a fluid can flow in opposing directions. The invention also comprises an individual plug element (10) which enables the fluid to flow from one tube to the other. According to the invention, the plug element houses one end of each tube in an impervious manner and is equipped with an inner space for the passage of the fluid. The inventive assembly comprising the two tubes (4, 8) and the individual plug (10) enables the fluid to flow along a U-shaped path.
