<p>A former(2) has a profiled surface(3) matching that of the bellows to be manufactured. The former fits inside a tubular rubber section(8) and a chamber(9) created between the tube and former is connected to a vacuum pressure source which draws the tube onto the former. A pressure chamber(5) in the former(2) is connected to the chamber(9) via passages(10) in the former and allow vacuum to be applied to the chamber. A vacuum source(7), in particular a pump, is connected to the pressure chamber. The equipment is heated. Ends of the tubular section are sealed around the symmetric cylindrical former by a clamp or an adhesive band. The bellows are removed from the former after vulcanization. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing a profiled hose, in particular a folding bellows, in which a tubular rubber section is placed around a former(2) and space between them is evacuated to drawn the hose onto the former prior to vulcanization.</p> |
