FIELD: electric-discharge working of parts made of dielectric material or materials with high specific resistance, possibly in automobile-, instrument-, semiconductor-making industry branches. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of setting width of pulse of electric discharge for working and for forming conducting film on part surface depending upon voltage measured between electrodes at time moment after termination of predetermined time interval beginning from moment of ignition of electric discharge. Electric discharge machine tool includes first comparator for comparing voltage between electrode and part (electrodes) with first reference voltage whose value is set almost equal to voltage of electric energy source but no more than voltage of said source; second comparator for comparing voltage between electrodes with second reference voltage whose value is set lower than first reference voltage; control device for setting short width of electric discharge pulse if voltage between electrodes is lower than second reference voltage at time moment after termination of predetermined time interval beginning from moment when voltage between electrodes becomes lower than first reference voltage according to comparison result of first comparator and for setting large width of electric discharge pulse if voltage between electrodes exceeds second reference voltage. ^ EFFECT: stable mode of treating part of dielectric or other material, improved quality of part surface. ^ 10 cl, 9 dwg |
