Treating porous wood comprises immersing wood in a solution containing a diglycidyl monomer and a diamine monomer in a volatile organic solvent until at least 60% of the accessible pore volume of the wood is filled with solution, removing and draining and/or wiping the wood, heating the wood to initiate polycondensation of the monomers, and evaporating the solvent. An independent claim is also included for a piece of wood-resin composite material produced as above.
