<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase transition type optical recording medium in which its recording capacity is equal to that of a DVD-ROM and its recording linear speed is at 10 times (35m/s) as much as that of the DVD-ROM with secured sufficient degree of modulation, overwrite recording is possible and the variance in the reflectance after a long storage is small. <P>SOLUTION: This phase transition type optical recording medium has on a substrate at least a first intermediate layer, a recording layer, a second intermediate layer and a reflecting layer in this order, wherein the recording layer is composed of an alloy of a composition represented by GaαSnβInγCuδSbε (wherein 5≤α≤20, 2≤β≤20, 2≤γ≤20, 2≤δ≤20, 40≤ε≤80, α+β+γ+δ+ε=100 atom%), and a reversible phase transition between the non-crystalline (amorphous) phase and crystalline phase of the recording layer is used to perform recording and erasing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
