PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver capable of enhancing both the adjacent channel interference cancellation performance and the spurious interference cancellation performance can be enhanced. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver A-1 comprises an RFAGC circuit A2 performing variable control of the input RF signal level, frequency converting sections (A4a, A4b) for converting a regulated RF signal into an IF signal, a section A4e for detecting an IF signal level to generate a first control signal, an IFAGC circuit A6 performing variable control of the IF signal level, a demodulator A8 for detecting the receiving state of a regulated IF signal to generate a second control signal, and switch means (A4f, A9) for delivering one of the first and second control signals to the RFAGC circuit A2 wherein the RFAGC circuit A2 is arranged to regulate the RF signal level based on any one of the first and second control signals.
