PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for advantageously producing a pyrimidine derivative useful as an enzyme inhibitor and intermediates for synthesizing the same. SOLUTION: This method comprises hydrolyzing a compound (I) (P is an alkyl or the like; R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each an alkyl or the like) to obtain a compound (II) (M is Na or the like), reacting the compound (II) with a reagent (III) (R<SP>3</SP>is an alkyl which may be substituted or the like; and X is a halogen or the like) to obtain a compound (IV), reacting the compound (IV) with a compound (V) (R<SP>5</SP>is an alkyl which may be substituted or the like; and R<SP>6</SP>is H or the like) to obtain a compound (VI), condensing the compound (VI) with a compound (XII) (R<SP>7</SP>is an aralkyl which may be substituted or the like; and Y is a heteroaryl which may be substituted or the like) to obtain a compound (XI), and subjecting the compound (XI) to deprotection, preferably, by enzyme reaction to obtain a compound (XV).
