PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maleimide group-containing crosslinked polymer particle which requires neither special raw materials nor reactive functional group-containing monomers, is inexpensive and highly safe, has a large loading amount of the maleimide group with ease control of its loading without complex operations, is mechanically strong and exhibits excellent dispersibility in water, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The maleimide group-containing crosslinked polymer particle comprises a crosslinked polymer particle having a group represented by general formula (1) (wherein R is a hydroxy group or a group represented by general formula (2), provided that at least one of R's is the group represented by formula (2); and n<SB>1</SB>is an integer of at least 1). The manufacturing method of the maleimide group-containing crosslinked polymer particle comprises reacting hydroxymethylmaleimide with a hydroxy group-containing crosslinked polymer particle obtained by introducing (poly)glycerine into a crosslinked polymer particle.
