PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface material for a hot carpet excellent in heat resistance, flexibility and antistaining properties. SOLUTION: This surface material is constituted by providing a base material layer 4, a foam layer 3, a design printing layer 2 and a transparent resin layer 1 successively from below and the foam layer 3 comprises a layer formed by foaming a mixture of a hydrogenated styrene/butadiene copolymer and an ethylenic polymer in a non-crosslinked state. The surface material is manufactured by a process (1) for molding a foaming agent-containing resin in a non-foamed state to constitute a foamed recipe sheet (heated and foamed in the process (5) described below to become the foam layer), a process (2) for laminating the base material layer on one side of the foamed recipe sheet, a process (3) for providing the design printing layer on the other surface of the foamed recipe sheet, a process (4) for laminating the transparent layer on the design printing layer and the process (5) for molding the foam layer by heating.
