PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scan data transmission system capable of scanning with resolution corresponding to the capability of a PC for receiving scan data from a scanning device. SOLUTION: In the scan data transmission system, each PC comprises a setting means for setting read resolution that is suitable for the capability of the PC for each size of an original, and a means for maintaining the read resolution set for each size of the original as recommended resolution information. The scanning device comprises a means for acquiring the recommended resolution maintained in the PC, from the transmission destination PC retained in the PC before starting scanning, and a means for determining the read resolution in scanning, based on the acquired recommended resolution and the size of the original to be scanned.
