PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nurse call apparatus capable of preventing malfunction and surely detecting a call request from a patient. SOLUTION: A control section 100 detects and monitors an input level of an input voice signal received from an amplifier 20. Further, the control section 100 provides a control signal with a prescribed pattern to a light emitting section 30 to allow the light emitting section 30 to output an optical signal modulated by the control signal and monitors whether the optical signal is reflected in the patient or a person to be nursed and received by a light receiving section 40. Moreover, the control section 100 monitors a sensing result of a touch sensor section 50. Then the nurse call apparatus sets the sensitivity adjustment of the sensors on the basis of the strength and time, discriminates the occurrence of a call on the basis of a comparison result with the two parameters and closes a switch 70 to carry out a call notice operation to a nurse call master unit.
