PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid generation of fluctuations in projected images due to high-temperature exhaust, in a projection type image display device. SOLUTION: The image projection device, which projects light and displays an image on a projected surface, is covered with a casing cover. A predetermined surface of the casing cover 8(2) is provided with an opening 6 for intake for introducing the air from the outside of the casing cover, an opening 9 for evacuation for evacuating the air from the inside of the casing cover and guide members 8a, 11a for evacuation for controlling the evacuating direction of the air evacuated via the opening for evacuation so as to avoid an optical path space of the projected light.
