PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproduction method and an information reproduction device, in which a tap coefficient is determined in a condition that bER is minimum independently of noise characteristics of signals input into a Viterbi detector. SOLUTION: A reproduction sequence of data which are sampled for every clock cycle is equalized into a partial response waveform in a FIR filter 14, and then input into a FIR filter 17. On the other hand, identification data a<SB>k</SB>from a Viterbi detector 18 are subjected to computation of convolution with the partial response waveform in a FIR filter 15 and then input into a FIR filter 16. A coefficient calculator 19 is applied with an output from the FIR filter 16 and an output from the FIR filter 17, and calculates a tap coefficient of the FIR filter 14 based on auto-correlation of a noise component of the reproduction data sequence equalized into the partial response waveform. Accordingly, detection performance of the Viterbi detector becomes best, and the bER is minimized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
