PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fast system startup by using delay distribution to eliminate unnecessary memory copies when starting a computer.
SOLUTION: Quick system startup is achieved, not by performing rewrite operations with respect to a RAM 6 at a time as a resume process, but by making transfers from necessary portions using a virtual storage mechanism while delaying the other portions. Also, the storage location of memory images during suspend/resume is read from a CPU 1 for use as an accessible and executable ROM 5, which is mapped onto a virtual storage space as having a non-writable attribute during resume. Thus, the process by which the CPU 1 makes transfers to the RAM 6 is kept at a required minimum to reduce the time required for resume. Also, resume ROM images are provided onto the ROM 5 in advance to make resume applicable not only to restart but also to initial startup for increased speed of any startup process.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
