PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe which can contact a body surface of the neck without gap even without strongly pressing an ultrasonic radiation plane when measuring ultrasonic waves of a carotid artery. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic radiation plane 12 is composed of three unit areas 151-153, the unit areas 151 and 152 are, and the unit areas 152 and 153 are connected while having an angle between the ultrasonic wave radiation planes, respectively. Thus, a recessed bent portion 16 and a projecting bent portion 17 are formed on the ultrasonic radiation plane 12. When the ultrasonic radiation plane 12 is abutted to the body surface while matching the recessed bent portion 16 to the jaw joint of an examinee and matching the projecting bent portion 17 to the boundary of the jaw and the neck, the ultrasonic probe can be in contact with the body surface without gap even without strongly pressing the ultrasonic probe. Thus, the carotid artery can be prevented from being pressed and deformed, thereby obtaining a correct result of the measurement. Furthermore, any pain is not given to the examinee. Moreover, the ultrasonic probe can be in contact with the body surface over a wide area, thereby ensuring a wide field of view. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
