PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an anti-theft function if a memory card is removed while power is on; to keep a theft reporting function from working if the unauthorized user removes the memory card; and to operate the anti-theft function even while power is off.

SOLUTION: This electronic device with a removable memory card includes a detection means for detecting the removal of the memory card: a reporting circuit for reporting theft; a setting means for setting ON/OFF of the reporting function of the reporting circuit; and a control means that causes the reporting circuit to report theft if the reporting function is set ON when the detection means detects the removal of the memory card, and that inhibits the reporting function if it is set OFF. The detection means has a switch that supplies power to the device upon removal of the memory card.
