Aging catalysts used for purification of exhaust gases from internal combustion engines, by cyclical exposure to waste gases of different oxygen contents

Method for aging catalysts (A) in which a waste gas (12), of varying composition, is passed through (A). The new feature is that the oxygen content of (12) is changed cyclically, so that the oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of (A) is alternately filled with, then emptied of, oxygen, and the aging of (A), in the heated region, is accelerated by the exothermic heat of reaction released in the emptying stage.
