LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

The device has a data integrated circuit (116) with 642 output channels, among which 600 channels are data output channels. The data output channels output pixel data to a corresponding number of data lines (DL1-DLm) of a liquid crystal display screen as per a desired display resolution. The remaining channels are dummy output channels and are not supplied with the pixel data. A channel selector selects the data output channels. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling a programmable data integrated circuit in a display.
