PRODUCTION METHOD FOR PRODUCING SOFT MAGNETIC POWDER MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a soft magnetic powder material having a high electric resistance layer of a thin film on the surface of powder essentially composed of inexpensive iron by a simple process. SOLUTION: Soft magnetic alloy powder essentially comprised of iron and comprising a second element having oxidation reactivity higher than that of iron such as Si is used. The soft magnetic alloy powder is heated in a weak-oxidizing atmosphere obtained by mixing a weak-oxidizing gas such as water vapor into an inert gas, and the second element in the surface layer part of the powder is selectively subjected to oxidation reaction while suppressing the oxidation of iron to form a thin oxide film having high electric resistance.
