A polyester which stably forms fibers even in high-speed spinning and has a controlled crystallization rate. The polyester is one obtained in the presence of an antimony catalyst and is characterized in that the antimony catalyst comprises (i) diantimony trioxide and (ii) diantimony tetraoxide and/or diantimony pentaoxide, the amount of the ingredient (ii) being 1 to 10 wt.% based on the diantimony trioxide.
