The pneumatic spring (1) has a roll-off piston (2) and a U-bellows (3) with a roll-off fold (4) which rolls over the wall of the piston. A sensor element (6) of flat construction creates a height dependent signal during the rolling of the U-bellows. The sensor element is integrated in the wall of the roll-off piston or on the wall side facing the inner cavity (7) of the roll-off piston. The roll-off piston may be formed from injected plastic, aluminum or steel. The sensor element may be injection coated with the material of the wall.
