摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon-based optical device which enables to realize a new photoelectronic integrated circuit or a new optical arithmetic device. <P>SOLUTION: A photochemical etching silicon 1 produced by a photochemical etching method has characteristics of maintaining the polarized state of light. When a constitution that, for example, input light i of linearly polarized light is made incident on the surface of the photochemical etching silicon to take out output light o defined as reflected light is adopted in accordance with the characteristics, output light of right-handed circularly polarized light is outputted by radiating control light c of right-handed circularly polarized light to the surface of the photochemical etching silicon, and output light of left-handed circularly polarized light is outputted by radiating control light of left-handed circularly polarized light to the surface of the photochemical etching silicon.
