ANTI-IDIOTYPE MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES, THEIR USE IN ACTIVE IMMUNOTHERAPY OF MALIGNANT TUMORS AND COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING THEM

Monoclonal anti-idiotype antibody which is specific for murine antibodies against gangliosides carrying N-glycolylated sialic acid particularly against those gangliosides which are expressed by tumoral cells . The monoclonal antibody is useful as immunomodulator for the treatment of cancer. Specifically, the monoclonal anti-idiotype antibody of the present invention is capable of inducing a response which is predominantly anti-idiotypic in xenogenic models. The monoclonal an ti- idiotype antibody also exerts a protector effect against malignant tumors in animals
