PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase and decrease sound pressure of noise in a natural form, with respect to change in an operating condition, in regard to an adapting method for adapting control details of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An index of sound pressure distribution to be realized in the internal combustion engine is prepared by using engine speed and engine load as a parameter (Figure). To realize the sound pressure distribution along the index, control parameters of the internal combustion engine are adapted to the combination of the engine speed and engine load.
