PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile apparatus for saving resources, such as recording paper, and improving availability of received image data in a way, in which a head page of the received image data obtained by surrogate receive and stored in an image memory is transmitted to a personal computer connected to a network as an index. SOLUTION: The facsimile apparatus 1 receives a received image data by surrogate receive function for storing the receive image data in an image storing memory 7. When the image data received is stored sequentially to the image storing memory 7, only image data at a top page of each received image data of the image storing memory 7 is transmitted as an index to a personal computer PC through a network NW. In this way, recording output on recording paper can be minimized, and resources, such as recording paper and toner, can be saved, and by making outline of received image data recognizable without pressing memory of the personal computer PC, availability can be improved.
