PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a large-area thin-film-like three-dimensional microparticle structure having a uniform film thickness by Convective Self-Assembly. SOLUTION: A substrate 101 is immersed in a microparticle dispersion 102 prepared by dispersing microparticles in a dispersion medium, and a thin-film-like three-dimensional microparticle structure 103 is formed on the substrate by utilizing the shrinkage of the wet film of the microparticle dispersion on the surface of the substrate by the evaporation of the dispersion medium. Prior to the formation of the thin-film-like three-dimensional microparticle structure, the microparticle dispersion 102 is subjected to a desalting treatment (e.g., ion exchange or centrifugation), hydrogen ion concentration adjustment (PH adjustment), and the addition of an electrolyte (e.g., sodium chloride), and during the formation of the thin-film-like three-dimensional microparticle structure, the atmosphere temperature is kept constant by control in a thermostat bath 106.
