<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a full-toner image by forming latent images onto respective image carriers, and superimposing toner images, formed from the latent images, onto the transfer belt and also to reduce color misalignment caused by meandering of a transfer belt, in an image forming apparatus constructed such that the transfer belt facing a plurality of image carriers is provided with guide members, the guide members are engaged with parts of the rollers stretching the transfer belt, thereby restraining deviation of the transfer belt rotating. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, deviation data in the one rotation cycle of the transfer belt 1 is taken in as a constant deviation pattern by continuously detecting marks put in a plurality of positions on the transfer belt 15 in its rotating direction by a detection means. Based upon the intake constant deviation pattern data, image writing positions on the image carriers (17Y, 17M, 17C and 17K) in the main scanning direction are corrected (meander correction) for each one rotation cycle of the transfer belt. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
