PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator for a rotary electric machine capable of suppressing the occurrence of cracks and layer exfoliation during formation and insertion or the like of an insulating film or buckling during automatic insertion in slot insulation of the stator for a rotary electric machine. SOLUTION: The stator for a rotary electric machine is composed of a stator iron core having a plurality of slots and a field coil wound around the iron core via a slot insulating film. The slot insulating film having the following characteristics is used. The thickness of the insulating film is in the range of 50-400μm. Rupture elongation at a room temperature is 30-180 %.
