NONLINEAR OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonlinear optical waveguide that can expand a band of conversion efficiency by converting frequencies of a plurality of optical signals differing in frequency.

SOLUTION: Light can be confined to an optical waveguide 12 more tightly than a conventional technique by cyclically arranging 1st guide layers 18 and 2nd guide layers 19 on both the sides of the optical waveguide 12, and large waveguide dispersion is obtained to control material dispersion so that part of a phase mismatching quantity represented as a function of frequency has a fixed value, and the phase of the part is matched by a method of false phase matching to expand the conversion band of frequency conversion efficiency.
