PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary tiller ensuring a lock pin to slip off an engagement groove even if the lock pin is engaged on the groove engaged with a key member provided on a spring-receiving member. SOLUTION: The rotary tiller has the following construction and mechanism: There is provided the lock pin 57 functioning to restrain a rear cover 18 from descending by restraining the movement relative to the holder 47 of a rod 45 as a result of being inserted into an engagement hole 56 provided on the rod 45 when the rear cover 18 is swung upward. The spring-receiving member 48 is provided with the key member 49 functioning to position in the longitudinal direction of the rod 45 through detachably engaging on the engagement groove 43 provided on the rod 45, and there is provided a guide part 43b functioning to guide the lock pin 57 so that the lock pin 57 comes off the groove 43 by a load acting on the groove 43 engaged with the key member 49 so as to swing the rod 45 downward when the lock pin 57 is engaged on the groove 43.
