PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of flaws to a recording sheet and a head substrate due to an edge of an end part of a head cover of a thermal head, and to prevent generation of jamming and printing defects due to a gap between the head cover and the head substrate. SOLUTION: The head cover 16 is formed by a metal sheet, and covers and protects a driver IC of a heating element 25. The head cover 16 has also the function of guiding a color thermal recording sheet 3 towards the heating element 25. One end part of an inclined face 34 is arranged near the heating element 25. A spacer 42 formed of a heat resisting resin of a hardness whereby the head substrate 21 is prevented from flaws is fitted at one end part of the head cover 16, and blocks the gap between the head cover and the head substrate 21. Since the spacer 42 is made a tapering shape, an interval between the head cover 16 and the head substrate 21 can be connected without forming a large step. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
