PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic composition for permanently shaping keratin fibers with reduced aggressive behavior while being more effective compared to conventional compositions, and to provide a kit and a method for using this composition. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the cosmetic composition comprising tetra-methyl guanidine in a cosmetically permissible medium wherein the tetra-methyl guanidine and the cosmetically permissible medium are selected so that the tetra-methyl guanidine produces dehydroalanine by reacting with cystine in the keratin fibers through aβ-elimination reaction and leads the formation of lanthionine and imparts curls with diameters of 0.2-3 cm within 60 minutes.
