This invention relates to radar technology and, more particularly, to detection method and classification method adapted for Doppler-polarimetric radar. These methods are particularly well adapted for detecting and classifying small object in clutter-rich environment using simultaneously Doppler and polarimetric data. An object of this invention is a detection method of an object in an environment from range Doppler spectra processed from polarimetric received data comprising: - A selection (11) of a primary polarization channel C1; - A filtering (13) of the range Doppler spectra of this primary channel such as to keep only the values corresponding to the range-Doppler bins of the primary polarization channel which exceeded a threshold; - A filtering (13) of the range Doppler spectra of a secondary channel such as to keep only the values corresponding to the range-Doppler bins of the primary polarization channel which exceeded a threshold. The detection method may comprise a feature extraction if an object- to detect is not clearly separated from a clutter after the filtering (13). |
