<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, in which no cleaning failure occurs and a stable toner concentration detection can be carried out. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a primary transfer roller 11 transferring a toner image formed on a plurality of photoreceptors 20 by being brought into contact with an intermediate transfer belt 10 and a secondary transfer roller 24 transferring the toner image transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 10 by being brought into contact with transfer paper 5. Concentration of a reference toner patch formed on each photoreceptor 20 is optically detected by a toner sticking quantity detecting means. Image density control is carried out on the basis of the detected result of the toner sticking quantity detecting means. The toner sticking quantity detecting means are installed by being shifted in each photoreceptor in the direction orthogonal to the moving direction and the transfer conditions for the primary transfer roller 11 are different in the reference toner patch 301 and the toner image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
