PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for evaluating a casting plan which realize effective design of a casting plan for a cast product taking various shapes by predicting the result of directional solidification as the whole product. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for evaluating the casting plan, the solidifying time of molten metal is calculated by a solidifying time calculating part 4, based on three-dimensional shape data of a casting model read out from a three-dimensional shape data storing part 2 and on casting condition input and set by a casting condition setting part 3. Then, after setting a plurality of evaluation points in the inner part of the product by an evaluation point setting part 5, a connecting point of a product and a feeder head is indicated by a connecting point indicating part 6 and distance (evaluating distance) from the connecting point to each evaluation point is calculated by an evaluation point distance calculating part 7 and the result of the casting plan is evaluated from the relation between the evaluation point distance and the solidifying time in a casting plan evaluating part 8.
