PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a target object in an image surely and rapidly more than before.

SOLUTION: A human body detection device 1 for detecting the target object in the image is provided with a template storage part 102 for storing a template TP composed of one or more closed curves representing a part or a region of the contour of a human model, an image data reception part 101 for inputting an image of detection object, and a head position detecting part 103 for performing matching check for an inputted image by the template TP to detect a human from the image.
